Cheap Hotel in Vegas
Is it possible to do Las Vegas on the cheap? Is there such a thing as a cheap Las Vegas hotel near the 'strip'? Most people see Vegas as a place to spend money and gamble. Here's what you need to do to find a low-priced or discounted hotel room in Vegas:
First - if you're serious about saving money, you'll make your trip during the week (Monday through Thursday). This is the slow time (if there is such a thing) in Las Vegas.
Next, call a travel agent and ask for the cheapest hotel room he/she can find. Tell them you plan to stay 4 days from Monday to Friday morning. You should receive a lot of hotel discount coupons and offers from almost every hotel on the strip. Most hotels will lower their room rates (and travel packages) by up to seventy-five percent on the weekdays. Let the agent do the shopping for you. They're the experts. Allow them to do their job. The longer you stay, the better the discount. I've had rooms for $25 per night at really nice hotels by doing this.
Many of the downtown casinos and hotels offer cheaper lodging than accommodations on the Strip. Try them too.
Hotels not on the Las Vegas Strip often have the best bargain room rates. Get a list of those hotels and keep it in your rolodex because some of your best discounts will come from these accommodations.
Stay for a week you'll get the weekly room rates.
Plan your trip far enough in advance and you'll get the best rates. Vegas hotels often have a ninety percent occupancy rate. Sixty-three percent of visitors to Las Vegas book reservations two to three weeks in advance. You should too.
Hotels usually offer a free night if you stay more than three nights in Vegas. Also, make your booking from an airline reservation website if you want to do it all online.
Download Travel Axe. This will give you twenty websites that will help you find the best Vegas deals. What's great about this is that once you get the best deal you can wrangle out of the travel agents and websites, you should then call the Hotels themselves to negotiate better rates. You will be surprised to learn that you can even get rooms cheaper than the cheapest deals.
What many people don't realize is that the hotel-casino owners rarely if ever make money on their rooms. They make it with the betting that goes on in the casinos. Frequent casino visitors or 'high-rollers' often are treated to free rooms and free meals and drinks by invitation.
A very important thing to remember before you go running off to search for the best discounted lodging in Vegas is to check if during your scheduled trip, there are any major convention going on. This could be a deal killer. Las Vegas is a very popular venue for conventions and other events and the hotels in the area cater heavily to these groups with package deals. For you, it means there probably won't be a room available anywhere.
Conventions may often have 50,000+ attendees and so your best bet would be to steer clear unless you plan to attend one of them. The big ones to watch for are:
January - Consumer Electronics Show
February - Men's Apparel Guild in California (MAGIC)
March - NASCAR
April - National Association of Broadcasters, World Series Poker, Clark County Fair and Rodeo, Fremont Street Mardi Gras, City of Light Jazz Festival
May - Networld + Interop (high-tech), EA Sports Supercross, Cinco de Mayo, Summer Jam, Stars, Cars and Guitars Motorhead Festival, Jazz in the Park
June - Jazz Festival, International Truck Show
July - Fourth of July Fireworks
August - MAGIC, Newport Pacific Jazz Festival
November - Softbank Comdex (software and high-tech)
December - National Finals Rodeo
Contact the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority at (3150 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89109, PHONE: 702/892-0711, FAX: 702/892-2824) to find out who or what will be in town at the time you're planning to visit.
It is difficult but definitely possible to plan a cheap, heavily-discount Las Vegas vacation. Cheap hotels, cheap airfares, cheap car rental. They are all available by spending some time planning your Vegas vacation destination and you will save hundreds of dollars or more on your trip allowing you to have more money for shows and the games and whatever else you can find in Las Vegas.
