Accommodations in Hawaii are generally expensive so it's best to plan well ahead for any travel you plan. You can always stay in a good hotel with all the conveniences that come with beachfront property and location.
For some though, hotels just won't do it. These people want to enjoy the islands on their own terms, on their own schedule and Hawaii has much to offer to those who wish to do so.
Hawaii vacation rentals where you rent a large apartment or home for your family or friends may be just what the doctor ordered. Check the local listings in any of Hawaii's local newspapers and you'll run across at least one ad for vacation rentals in Hawaii or any of the islands for that matter.

If you're a member of RCI, and are an owner of a timeshare, swaps are easily arranged to common popular destinations. Always plan in advance but never pay in advance if you can avoid it. If you own a home in another popular vacation or resort area, it is always a good idea to place a classified ad in Hawaiian newspapers requesting a swapping arrangement with your contact address and phone number. Setting up a web page or blog on blogger.com is a good idea because you can advertise your home with pictures and descriptions of the attractions in your area.
This may sound like a lot of work but really it isn't. Blogger is easy to use and will be a great contact address to write in your local advertisements for home swapping arrangements or other types of vacation rentals. Remember, planning is the key to finding a successful vacation rental or swap.
